Birds of a Feather...

This morning I awoke to discover that my eyes were nearly swollen shut and my throat had, charmingly, closed up...which was a good thing, because it prevented me from screaming when I looked in the mirror and saw what had happened to my eyes.  I have a mild allergy to down pillows and comforters, and while I had bought a non-feather pillow to replace the one my host put out for me, I never bothered to take off the down-filled comforter on my bed.  It is pretty soft and I figured that as long as I kept it away from my face, I would be fine.  Too bad I awoke this morning to find myself cocooned in said comforter, with a large portion of it covering my head, and my nose running like it was in the Olympic Decathlon.

Brilliant....looks like I can upgrade that allergy to feathers from "mild" to "toxic."

Fortunately, I still have connections with the shady doctor that Tri Cities Opera uses, and he was more than happy to call in an extra-strength antihistamine for me at the local CVS.  In fact, I am pretty sure he would have called in some Oxytocin if I had asked nicely.  And my host was kind enough to pick it up on her way back from the gym.  So if you need me today, I will be passed out from the prescription strength Benadryl I just took.

And yes, I removed the feather comforter from my bed.  Wish I had done that sooner.
