Toto, we aren't in the MIT Gilbert and Sullivan players anymore....and thank God for that.

Intense...
Today, during our lunch break, I actually fell asleep on the stage manager's desk and managed to drool all over her call sheets. Now I am sure to be her favorite cast member! Rehearsals have been incredibly intense, but I have finally been released from the Lucia chorus, so I don't really feel like I get to complain. And all the other principles seem as wiped as I am, so at least I know that the professionals are finding all these rehearsals a bit intense as well. What makes this rehearsal process so exhausting is that the show has a ton of gags, dance numbers and patter songs, so you can never really let your guard down. Plus I am on stage with two of the most brilliant actors ever to grace the stage, so I have to put in that extra effort to keep up with them.

It is important for people to know how exhausting your kind of work (and devotion!) can be. Audiences think the arts are "the easy life." The fact that you make your work look so "effortless" is part of the hard-won magic.
